The special thing: It will be constructed where the old building from 1976 currently stands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Extensive preparations are necessary for the approximately 5-year construction phase. For example, interim accommodation had to be found for 1,300 study places, for one million printed books and about 80 UB employees. The extensive search for this was successful at the end of 2022: the learning spaces will be distributed across the campus, the Dortmund city center and an alternative library quarter on the edge of the Technology Park, into which the library staff will also move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The lesser-used books will be housed off campus, while the more frequently used items will be located at the four library locations on campus. They will be delivered by order to Emil-Figge-Str. 50 by the next business day. There, in the Emil-Figge-Bibliothek<\/a> on the 1st floor, the vast majority of library services will be offered during the construction period; here, all ordered books can be picked up, borrowed and returned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Most of the current literature in books and journals is available to TU members electronically and can be used regardless of time and place.
